free unzip software

  [DELETED] 19:08 03 May 2006

I occasionally get zipped emails that I can't open as I do not have winzip or an equivalent. I am reluctant to pay for this software as I do not zip files and I get such emails very rarely. Can anyone suggest a free programme that will enable me to do this. ( I could keep on using free trial ware but this seem a bit laborious )

I have followed with interest these notes, a questions please:
7-zip will zip the files, what will unzip them ?

I don't know 7-zip but it will almost certainly unzip files as well. Have you thought of WinRAR which will also handle Zip files?

I have downloaded " unzipme " from a list provided by VOG. It has worked so, thanks very much. Thanks also to all who replied Interesting that many of the sites that listed 'free' software required a one off registration fee.
Mnaythanks to all.
