free space

I have uninstalled quite a few programmes and yet my drive is still showing the same amount of used disc space can anyone explain why and tell me how to free up some space

Get CCleaner from click here - it will remove a lot.

If you want to create some extra space, check out your system restore settings.

If you are still using the windows default setting, the it will be taking 12% of your hard drive. Thats nearly 5Gb for a small 40Gb hard disk.

You don't really need any more than 1Gb for them.

Right click my computer > properties > system restore > pick the drive > settings. Now check how much windows is taking. If it's to much, just move the slider to what you need.
