Forms Input HELP block automated/spam inputs

  TrevNI 09:29 06 Dec 2006

I have a website where surfers fill in a form with their contact details to receive further information in the post. This attracts only a few responses but lately I have been bombarded by around 100+ false inputs a day which advertise viagra and ringtones etc. These I am almost certain must be automated as I can't see someone going into the form page and filling in all this rubbish manually.

What is the best way to stop this ? Do I need to include on the form page a random image of letters that genuine respondents have to key in a new field and if so what is the coding to generate the random text and check that this is input.

Am also having exactly the same problem in my Guest Book with all these SPAM Entries and have turned this off until I find a suitable way to stop the undesirable entries.
