Formating HDD via USB Caddy

I have a old SATA laptop HDD that i want to format and reuse in a differant laptop, if i place in my USB to SATA caddy and locate through disc management is it as simple as right click on the drive and click format

A "quick format" should take about a minute or two, a full format will take half an hour or more depending on the size of the disc.

You should be able to do it from my computer on desktop just right click icon and choose format
