Format The Hard Drive

i want to format my hard drive. backed up the full system, can anybody tell me the best way to format it

Well the best way i can say if you have a xp cd is boot from that delete the partition and quick ntfs format then reinstall,you need to make cd drive the first boot option in the bios and change it back after.

Then as Acolyte said go into the BIOS and change the boot order so it boots from cd first save changes and exit, put the xp cd in the draw and when the pc boots you'll get a message press any key to boot from cd.

Hit a key and now windows setup will start from here you can delete the exsiting partion and then create a new partion and format it and then proceed with the installation

On XP if you have created system recover dvd then all you need to do is put the dvd into the drive.
The dvd will format the hard drive remove partition and then reinstall and create new partition.

the problem is it duel boots up windows 2000 and windows xp. I want to remove windows 2000, this might be easier than formating the hard drive.
