forgotten wireless password

i have a linksys wireless router and a toshba laptop. i want to use my wifi phone on the system but have forgotten my password to enable access. i can find the security screen on my pc and i can see that the password is 8 digits, there is a box to show characters but when i tick that the 8 digits vanish. I am a complete no hoper with technology!! can anyone help me reset my password? heres hoping thanks

Look for a small hole - it's often at the back, and reset the router by pressing the small button with a straightened paper clip.

Then you can go through the setup procedure again.

Connect to the router via the network port with a cat5 or above patch lead then type into your browser and unless you have changed it put admin in username and admin in password which should allow you to access the routers setup pages then go to wireless security and you should be able to see what it has been set to.

Strawballs's suggestion sounds good. Its just the wireless key thats needed so dont reset the router.
