Forgot How to remove the Icons in control Panel

Using win98Se. Want to remove a useless unwanted application icon from control panel. Quick Time icon

I did it about 6 months ago but now forgot and unable to find my posting here.

I remember it was a cpl thing ?.

Add/remove programs has shifted the quick time & I have reg cleaned the registry and still the ICON won't budge.

Not vital but anoying, anoying because I car't budge it off the planet.

It a file search in windows Find ... and looked for all files ending with *.cpl
Checked the .cpl files were Control panel related and looked for the QTM32.cpl zapped it and its gone.

Or, for future reference, if you just want to hide the icon rather than deleting it, open the Control.ini file in C:\Windows\System and add

QTM32.cpl=no

to the "Don't Load" section and save the file. It will look like this:

[don't load]

QTM32.cpl=no

There may be other .cpl files in that don't load section as well.
