If you put a floppy in the drive it whires and judders as if trying to read but nothing happens.
Have tried different disks, but no joy, except at times no problem. One day it work but not all the time.
Any suggestions?

Morning geoff, It sounds like your drive is due to retire. You can buy a new floppy drive for £5.00 to £10.00 at the most. Very easy to fit, just remember to look at the way the cables are connected to your current one. Regards. j.

Thanks Djohn (to the rescue again) is it as simple as that?
Do floppy drives wear out that soon?
Cant it be dirty or something? read somewhere that can be a problem.

How long have you had the drive geoff? They do last for a considerable length of time, but this will depend on how often they are used. I have had mine for three years, but is only used on average eight or nine times per year.

Yes, it's very straightforward to change, but if you need some assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me via the forum or direct. Regards. j.
