flatbed scanner for negatives

could anyone advise me? i need a new scanner, the scanner i am looking for must be able to give good results when scanning 35mm negatives ( i have thousands collected over the years)the scanner i am thinking of is the canon lide 80 has anyone got one? how do's it perform? i am on a limited income so i cannot afford to make the wrong choice anyone help please?

i have a visioneer 9020 which i use for negative & slide scanning. would recomend it without a moments hesitation

The LIDE 80 click here comes with a "transparency adapter" for scanning negatives.

As does the Visioneer 9020 click here

Personally i would always "Go Canon"....
