Flat Screen Monitor Spec's

  Swampy 05:38 21 Oct 2003

I am looking for a 17" monitor. Can anyone please explain what all the settings mean and what to look for in a flat screen monitor. I understand that it needs a high refresh rate for moving pictures, but what rate? What contrast ratio etc. should I be looking for? It's not the sort of thing you buy every day and I'd like to get it right. Incidentally, I purchased a 19" top of the range CTX CRT monitor approx. two and a half years ago (which had a great review in PC Advisor), but I'm now on my 6th or 7th monitor after they have all failed!

CAn you tell us do you mean a TFT (thin flat LCD screen) or a CRT (with a tube), flat screen monitor.
