Flat screen monitor: not working with PC

  martin_old 22:20 16 Aug 2005

I have just replaced my CRT for my PC with a new 19" flat screen monitor.

I connected, and after the maker's name (Acer), all I got was the Windows screen (I think) in all four quarters of the screen, scrolling so rapidly bottom to top as to be unreadable.

I have confirmed the refresh rate as 60Hz. I deleted both the monitor and displays before retrying. I started in Safe Mode. All without success.

However, the montitor works when plugged into my laptop.

As it can't be the monitor, any suggestions as to what settings to change, or what might be the problem?

Try setting the refresh rate to 75Hz

Is your resolution set to 1280x1024?

  martin_old 22:38 16 Aug 2005

Thanks Sid, it was set to 75 Hz to start with.

And Roy, yes it is set to 1280 x 1024.

graphics card? update the drivers.

  martin_old 22:53 16 Aug 2005

I'll try the graphics card - thanks. Anyone got an idea what the problem is?

Apparently, if you have an nVidia graphics card, using the latest drivers can help.

Just wondering! Have you reconnected your crt again, just to make sure that the problem is only with your new screen?

  roy 23:21 16 Aug 2005

Another point. Have you downloaded the drivers for the monitor? See click here .

Try the Monitor at 1024x768
