Flashing Lights on My LAN socket / Port ?

  Tinkey Winkey 16:26 26 Dec 2004

I was attaching some cables round the back of my PC which was off( but still connected to the mains,) and noticed a pair of yellow lights flashing at short intervals on my LAN socket !

2 small square lights (LEDs I guess)

Mobo is Asus K8V SE Deluxe

What's going on here then ?

As it's still connected to the mains the motherboard is still getting power even though it's turned off at the switch. Same as a TV on standby.

That's normal, I think!!

I have an Asus board and when I connect my Lan cable, it gives me a green flashing light shining through.

I would guess that power is maintained on the LAN card so it can react to a wake up call, incoming fax, etc. If you are not connected to a LAN, the flashing lights are telling you this.

All quite normal. My M$ Optical Mouse also remains lit with its red LED when the PC is powered off.

At work with numerous brands of machines, some mice are lit others are not........
