hi fellas nd gals im currently trying to fix a tower pc and im running AVG to rid it of any viruses it,s got, but wot has just happend is that it has found 18 trojan viruses and it has the whole computer has crashed any ideas how i can get it goin again without starting over

Try last known good configuration: press f8 whilst pc is starting up to get this option (sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs)

So it's XP! Which one Home or Pro? If it's same OS as yours why not run repair with your XP CD

yer its xp but i think me mate used a hooky copy of xp when it was set up so havnt got the disk is there a way to stop the system crashing !!!

If the F8 options don't work then woodchips suggestions is imo the way forward, repair the installation.

If you have a XP disc then try repair with your disc

PS Do not worry about CD key. It's not on the Disc so computer will not know it's a different disc

dont have a CD - took my laptop in to get fixed and the bloke nicked it! so im a bit stucked! Im trying F8 now
