fitting a sound card

I want to fit a new sound card but am a bit of a novice. is it easy or would i be better taking to a shop to be fitted.

It is quite straightforward, make a note of your previous soundcard details incase you need to reinstall again (

Take details from MY COMPUTER>CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>DEVICE MANAGER>SOUND,VIDEO,GAME CONTROLLERS.
Remove old soundcard settings, then physically remove card from computer,put new one in and reboot, the new one should be automatically picked up.

If you mean exactly what you say, ie that you already have a sound card installed and what now to upgrade to a better one, then follow Cuddles instructions.

If, however, your present system has on-board sound before installing you will need to check on the motherboard manual and follow the instructions to disable the on-board sound and then fit the new sound card. The new sound card should have fitting instructions that are easy to follow - certainly true if you're going for Creative.
