Fitting a CD-Rom drive to older computer

I have purchased a redundant job lot of older complete computers, which have floppy [large/small]disk drives fitted. The unit have no great monetary value, so major upgrading would be a lost cause. As a possible experiment, I was wondering if it would be a simple job [unplug/replug] to fit a CD-Rom drive,in place of the larger floppy drive. So that CD's can be used, instead of floppies.

Basically, if possible,I just want to 'mess about'with these obselete units.Using some spare parts that I have available.

As usual, help and advice would be most welcome.

Thanks for that, sounds simple, so I will give it a try.
