I have downloaded a firmware upgrade for my CD-RW, but am not sure how to apply it. Is it as simple as double clicking the exe file?

Is there something wrong with your CD-RW?

Whats the reason for applying new firmware?

The drive isn't recognised by new Sony camcorder software so i thought this may help?

it should be a last resort to do what you are thinking about doing try a cleaning disc. a pound at a £ shop

you could be taking a risk here

However, are you sure its the sony camcorder software that is the problem?

I would e-mail sony first as they may have a patch for there software, rather than updating the firmware on the CD-RW

How old is the CD-RW?

meant to say

are you sure its NOT the sony camcorder software that is the problem?

The CD-Rw is an LG GCE 8400B about 18 months or so old - it works fine with nero so maybe i should contact Sony - their software seems a bit poor compared to the hardware?

  User-312386 22:46 10 May 2004

I would contact sony

If you have nero why would you want to use sonys software?

Are you sure this is not a software conflict?

  woodchip 22:53 10 May 2004

He may not be able to load the drivers of the CD

  User-312386 22:56 10 May 2004

could be

Muckle- Do you know how old the software is? Just been thinking if the Sony software is older than the drive then it wont work

  woodchip 23:06 10 May 2004

You could try this, It may sound daft but I have found it works. Start NERO and put the software disc in and choose copy disc. It will make a copy to the hard drive if it can and then it will ask you for a blank disc and it will create a new disc if can do this it will work with the new disc. I have found this works when it cannot read it in windows Explorer etc.
