Hi! This is Crespo calling! Some help required here. I'm running the basic Windows xp firewall on a new Hewlett-Packard laptop. I want to improve the security on it by downloading the free version of the Zone Alarm firewall. Can i run the both of these together or will there be a conflict? As always, any help will be v.v. appreciated. Cheers! C.

"Can i run the both of these together or will there be a conflict?"

Yes there will be a conflict.

As octal says you should turn Windows Firewall off if you install ZA

I haven't tried it, but I think installing ZA will automatically turn off Windows Firewall.

That said, I'm not sure that there is a conflict, it's just unnecessary to have both running. Having two firewalls installed running is not the same as having two anti-virus products installed - that would create a conflict.

There is no need to run two firewalls together, as octal said "there will be conflicts " the free version of zone alarm will be a better firewall than the Windows XP firewall, so you will gain nothing by running two firewalls, the only thing you will gain would be possible conflicts.
