Do you need firewall protection for a dial up connection

Depends on how long you are on line and what you want a firewall for.

My only use for a firewall is to determine what applications on my PC get access to the internet - and even that is only out of curiosity. I don't expect to get hacked on dial-up as I am never on line for very long and each connection brings with it a new IP address.

If you do want one, I would suggest Sygate Personal free version from click here or kyrio.

'Need' probably not, but as there are a range of free options and they have minimal effect on browser performance, why take the risk
