Firefox download keeps on failing

I have been trying to download Firefox as my laptop has been so slow and someone told me that Firefox is faster than Chrome, I have managed to do this on one laptop but not on the other as the download fails every time due to too much going on in the system, this is on the laptop which is particularly slow, any ideas on what could be making it fail Thanks.

I think Firefox needs .Net4 installed to run.

How much Ram does your laptop have? I recently doubled my Laptop Ram with a 2gB chip salvaged from a defunct Laptop and its made a huge difference.

Check task manager to see what's using your laptop's CPU, ram and possibly your hard drive. Might give some clues as to what can be done to speed it up a bit.

Thanks for the replies, you are right about something using the CPU as I keep getting performance alerts about high usage but don't know what to do about it, I have looked up task manager but I don't really understand it.
