Firefox and BBC iplayer downloads programme

I had to re install Firefox and some other programs including BBC iPlayer Downloads program. Unfortunately since doing this I have not been able to download any programme from BBC iPlayer using Firefox 31.0, but I can stream the programmes. I have tried to download these programmes using Chrome and Internet Explorer and had success after Chrome asked to install an app, and IE did the same. I have never been asked by Firefox to install a plug in, but when I do try to install BBC iPlayer 20101110 from the Firefox plug in site I am advised that it cannot be installed as it is there already. I have tried to look for it but without success. Can anyone give any help please? I have been using Firefox 31.0 since its release and before reinstalling all way well.

Have you tried a reset, reset FF ? They're all a much of a muchness these days.

Yes I have tried to reset and it did not change anything, and I had to restore all my settings afterwards. I have MozBackup, and it works well. See click here
