Finding e-mails in Outlook

  the-george 16:36 01 Nov 2006

I have an old drive in an external USB caddy and I want to access some of the old e-mails that should still be present before I re-format the drive.

Where do I find them?

If they are Outlook files search the old drive using Windows Explorer for .pst files. Use Outlook to open.

It is actually Outlook Express - does this make a difference?

Will try your suggestion anyway.

Search for *.dbx files.

Found several .dbx files ( no .pst) which seem to relate to the folders in Outlook express e.g. Inbox. Drafts etc. Saved these to to disk but how do I access them?
Have tried the 'open with' option but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

In OE File > Import > Messages and point it at the .dbx folder.

That did the trick.
