Find Outlook Emails - Contacts on HD

  Legslip 21:38 25 Apr 2010

My pals PC is beyond economic repair. I have taken hid HDrive out and can see all his folders via my USB/SATA connector. Is there somewhere on the drive where I might recover his emails and contacts in readiness for installing on his new PC?

If you do mean "Outlook" (i.e. Microsoft Outlook and not Outlook Express), all of his emails and contacts will be in Outlook's .PST file. Do a search for that on the hard drive and it can be used with Outlook in the new PC.

Thanks MGMCC. Have done that using 'Search' *.*pst and it comes up with nothing.

The mailbox.pst folder is a hidden folder. To use Windows Explorer to navigate to this folder you must first turn on the display of hidden folders. In Windows Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options. On the View tab, under Advanced Settings, under Files and Folders, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. If you want to see all file name extensions, clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
