Filter position

Have an extension lead running right acroos the room, cable approx 15ft long then the micro filter before the router lead.
All tests I have run show I get about 5.5 mb download. Talking to sky last week and their test shows I should be getting 6.5.
Is it possible that this is because I have the filter at the end of the extension lead rather than at the splitter in the main socket then the extension lead.

Have you tried it that way?
My speeds increased when I moved the router next to the main phone socket then ran a ethernet cable to the two PC's.

The filter should be the first thing plugged into your main socket - any splitter should come out of that.

Even so, the difference is not really significant, is it?
