Files & settings from XP to 7 64bit, but programs?

  hatrickj 11:32 28 Mar 2010

Having received delivery of a new computer I will soon be transferring files etc. across.

However I understand that programs may bot be so easy. Is there anything available that will allow programs to be transferred without the hassle of re-installation from scratch?

Suggestions, if any are available will be much appreciated.

Also welcome will be any tip on files and settings transfers.

Thank you.

You can not tranfer programs using teh Files and Settings utility you need other software such as click here.

Wow. Never heard of that before. Looks interesting.

Another note of advice. Check that your modem(/router) and printer are W7 compatible.

I upgraded from XP 6 months ago. While very happy with W7 I needed a new modem and printer.

AOL sent me a free wireless modem router but I had to buy a printer.

Only software problems I have had have been with MS Office 2000.

Many on the web say W7 can't run it. But if you Google hard enough, you find it can.
The tweaks are simple, just finding them a bit arduous.
