File name text colour changing

  TonyW2 09:58 03 Dec 2007

Recently many of my folders and files titles (especially photo JPEG) have started to change their text colour from black to blue.
Is there any reason why this is happenning and does it have any significance?
(I have installed Picassa but that may be a red-herring)
My JPEG files also show the size and the file type. Is it possible to "hide" that information for clarity. I do have "hide file extension" set on folder options.

Using Windows XP (SP2)and Internet Explorer

Blue text means that the files are compressed.
You can change it if you want to:
Tools/Folder Options/View
Under Advanced Settings untick 'Show encripted or compressed NTFS files in colour'

This is not found in Internet Explorer.
Look in the Tools menu from any folder on your puter.

Thanks Carpigiani.
That's informative, and changing the setting certainly puts them back to black.
It is now clear to me that this happenned because I had saved some files in a zipped folder, which compresses them.

Hope you also found it useful, omaraff!
