The above file appeared on my ?D? drive at 22.36 this evening. It has now moved its self to my ?C? drive all by its self??My ?D? drive is a separate HDD that I use for backup, so the only files on drive ?D? should only be ones that I put there.I have Norton Internet Security (which is turned on) with live update. Can any body tell me what this is and why it should move by its self to another drive.I tried to delete it but error message came up saying this file cannot be deleted.Under properties it says it is an archive file with zero KB.Running windows 98se.
These are files created by MS Office. They are a Fast Find Indexer utility. As far as I know they are pretty harmless
Microsoft Ofice has a facilty called Fast Find, wich (supposedly) indexes your Office files so that they can be found more quickly.Fast Find creates the following indexes - FFASTUN.FFAFFASTUN.FFLFFASTUN.FFOFFASTUN0.FFXFFASTUNT.FFLUninstall Fast Find, and the problem disappears - most people find their system slightly faster and more stable with Fast Find disabled.Which version of Office are you using?
