Faulty PCMCIA LAN Card?

  dms05 20:47 06 Dec 2006

I have a 3Com PCMCIA LAN card that Device Manager reports as working correctly but shows up under Connectionc as Network Cable Unplugged even when attached through a cable know to be OK. Needless to say I can't connect to my LAN.

Is the PCMCIA card in fact faulty?

Silly question I know but presumably you are using the correct type of cable (crossover versus straight) for the connection you are using?

If the cable is definitely correct, you could try uninstalling/reinstalling the PCMCIA card. Device Manager can still show hardware to be OK when drivers have become corrupted.

The cable is correct and works on other LAN connections. The PCMCIA card fails to work on 2 laptops so the driver seems the unlikely cause but I will try!

<<< The PCMCIA card fails to work on 2 laptops >>>

That sounds fairly conclusive. :(
