When using a friends PC I get a blue fatal exception message OE 0187:BFF9DFFF How can I get rid of this??

Do you also get this message

"The volume that was removed had open files on it. Next time please check first to see that the volume can really be removed."

Is there a way round fixing the OE messge other than using registry? I noticed I got a USER.EXE message one time when I got the blue screen, this popped up in a white window to compliment the lovely blue screen! I really don't want to mess with registry if possible as I don't know what I'm doing with it.
