Fatal exception message

  Six foot 19:18 05 Jun 2004

I have been given a home computer and am not up to speed with the finer points of the inside of the big box thing, but every time I am using the computer, after about 30-40 minutes of use, the computer states that a error has occurred and that the program will be terminated. This then shuts down the whole system.

Once the screen changes from black to blue, the following message is displayed.

"Fatal exception OE at 0028:C004ED3C in VXD VCACHE + 0000053C"

Does this mean that there is a software or hardware problem that I need a specialist PC engineer to look at?

Any pointers would be appreciated...

What OS are you using - has it been upgraded from a previous Windows Vesion?

I take it OS is short for operating system, the current system this PC uses is Windows 98. The person who gave me the PC is not sure whether the PC was upgraded...can you help.

It may be to do with your ram (memory) click here and scroll to just near the bottom where it says VXD VCACHE (W98)

Thanks for the help, Old shep. The links seem to relate to a siminlar problem so I will get the PC loked at as I don't have a clue what RAM looks like etc....
