Fan on power supply is making whining noise?

The fan on my power supply is making a strong whining noise. Do I have to replace the unit or is ther something else I can do to remove noise. At the moment I'm giving it a dunt and it stops for a short time. If I do need a new power supply are they all standard and are they easy to replace.

I personally wouldn't go into a power supply, I would just replace it. Are they standard? Yes to a certain degree but what make and model of computer do you have as some manufacturers use non standard power supplies?

Don't open a PSU unless you know EXACTLY what your doing, potentialy hazardous.

Thanks for your replies, my friend built pc for me. He bought the case with power supply attached. If it is easy to replace I will just go and get a replacement ps.
