Acer laptop is back to factory settings. It had wins 7. Can I use xp disc or do I need wins 7.
to do what?
Factory Settings are restored using a Factory Restore Disc not a OS Disc. As not only are the OS reloaded but all the drivers and setup plus crapware reinstalled
Laptop went wrong so thought if I restored to factory settings it would help but now I cannot boot to desktop. Says I need to use disc. Don't know if it means restore or wins 7 disc. Don't have wins 7 but have an xp one
In your other thread you say its Win7 you cannot use XP to do anything with a Win7 OS. You also need the Correct win 7 CD like Win7 Pro or Home etc to do a repair
When I restored it to factory settings is wins 7 still on it or was that removed.
What was on originally?
How? what means did you use to Restore it?
If it had the e-recovery it should have restored a factory image and be exactly as the day you bought it
If you restored your computer to factory settings, your windows 7 operating system will have been restored to how it was when you bought the computer.
Use the built in ERecovery if at all possible, to restore from the hidden partiton.click here
