extra ram+Pc world

Hi.Today I paid a visit to Pc World with the intention of up-grading my Pc's ram.Currently I have 768mb.A 512 and 256.I was hoping to buy an extra 1GB.Replacing the 256.I was told by Pc World my motherboard will not support this increase?????.So I left.Is this true..Many thanks,Mike Hardware Information supplied by NERO Info Tool.

According to this click here the board should take 2GB maximum. Seems like PCWorld could have been wrong!.

best bet goto here click here input your mobo make and model and this will tell you what ram you can have,i just ran this through them and it told me that you can have 2Gb and also what type you can use click here hope this is your board lol.

Hi, and many thanks for your help.Went back to PC World armed with your comments.But dealt with a different member of staff who was very helpful and knowledgable.Only one problem they were out of stock of compatable 1GB ram.Bought a 512mb instead,now runing 1GB only.Never mind.Once again many thanks to you all.Take care,Mike

1GB is pretty good for most machines these days; there will be other bottle necks in the system so any further increases will be negligible.
