External HDD - DIY or buy one

I've seen the Icy box enclosures and that can can build your own external HDD. Why would you build one rather than buy one? Are they easy to put together?

Easy to fit a HDD of your own choice into an external enclosure such as the Icy box. Often works out cheaper and if drive fails then you can fit another drive in the box.
Also useful to remove a drive from a dodgy PC fit into box to connecto another PC to recover data fron the drive.

Approx £16 -20 for enclosure and drive price depends on size
to fit:
Set jumper to master on HDD
open enclosure seure drive in enclosure with 4 screws
plug ribbon cable
plug in power cable to drive.
close box c
connect box to PC via USB cable
connect box to manis via power cable supplied

goto disk management to initialise and format drive.
