external hard drive for windows 7

Hi, Can anyone recomend a good 1TB or over external hard drive that is compatible with windows 7 32bit, l bought a WD but had to do an RMA as it had a fault (so l thought) they replaced it but l still had the same problem, l sent WD an email which took over a week for them to reply only for them to inform me that the hard drive is not compatible with windows 7. If anyone knows of one that is fast and quiet with it's own power suply, l do alot of photography so l need something reliable. Many Thanks.

A hard drive is just storage medium to say its not compatible with windows 7 seems extremely odd

In device manager, go to the properties for the ext hdd and changed the removal policy from the default quick removal, to best performance and everything should then work.

Also make sure that windows 7 is not trying to save power by cutting power the the USB port where your drive is plugged in.
