I have purchased an external Hard drive via USB2 for backup purposes - 160 Gbs. Using MSBackup and having selected the chosen files I am unable to copy more than 4 Gbs. ?

What steps should I take please? Any help grtefully received. - Wol

Have you formated the drive in Fat32? 4G is is the file size limit for Fat32

Use Admin tools- computer management - disk management to convert to NTFS. No fle size limit in NTFS.

I feel like an idiot, as I went ahead and transferred loads of stuff on to my EHDD and then noticed that it was fat 32 and I should have reformatted it to NTFS before I did any transferring...if I reformat now..I will lose all the info I transferred and will have to start again.

Is there any advantage in reformatting the drive, as it seems to me that only being able to transfer 4gigs in any one transfer is not much of a disadvantage for the ordinary home user without any ginormous files.

Am I right not to worry?

Thanks very much
