I am looking at external hard drives, but am unable to find any with built in USB cables.
I have found the following to be good

but am looking for something a bit bigger, maybe between 20-30gigs. I also do not want a power cable

Why do you want built in cable? when the cable goes wonky how you going to mend or fit a new one?

not sure, but because i travel alot, remembering to take usb cable can be a pain. This is what I am doing at the moment.
I currently have a 250GB freecom drive, and i always need the usb and power cable.
Can do with something a bit smaller with built in cables.
Any sugestions woodchip?

Hi, just a thought, though I have not looked into it... why not get a two and a half inch laptop drive and put it in a usb slim-drive enclosure!

  websurfowen 21:58 04 Apr 2007

i have thought about that but that still means carrying a usb and power cable with me around the country.
I would rather just have it all contained with no extra leads

Well If it's for a Laptop you only need something like your link

I also have done as above, after upgrading my Laptop Hard Drive from a Hitachi 30Gb 4200rpm to a 60Gb 7200rpm the computer works a lot faster and no disc churning. plus I put the old 30Gb in a little caddy that cost me £5 from a computer fair Connects just like yours but with a loose usb wire

Forgot to say I got a 20Gb 2.5 Hard Drive from off floor in the Dumpit Site. Cleaned it up Fitted in caddy for free. All his files on it, including a photo where he lived

I am going to go for the Freecom ToughDrive Pro 2.5" 80GB Shockproof USB 2.0 Slim Hard Drive as given by MAJ

Thanks for your help
