external hard drive

i was thinking of buying an external hard drive to connect to my pc via a usb cable so i can store all my films editing that ive been working on as dvd discs are not big enough, with the external hard drive would i need to connect it to the pc before i start it up or are most plug n play? and also can i connect it up to my work one or do i need software to install

Most are plug and play - you may need for format it when first connected but it will depend on the one you get. It should come with full instructions.

If you have winMe, 2k or XP you should not need any special software and it will connect to any machine.

Be sure You have USB 2. otherwise very slow.

cheers. im looking for about a 160gb or 200gb usb2 around £60-£100 not something big just small any ideas

hello im looking to get a joypad to play my pc games with as keyboard and mouse are getting to annoying, are the joypads plug n play or i have to install software and will they work with most games?

Windows will load it but only basic it will come with a Driver CD
