External Floppy Drive and Boot up

  Cesar 10:27 27 Mar 2005

My Laptop doesn't have a Floppy Drive (XP Home), if I buy an External Floppy Drive can I make boot up disks from that and in the event of a system failure can I boot from that. Thank you in advance.

Will depend on the type of connection (ie USB) and whether the laptop BIOS can boot from USB.

Bought my daughter a Packard Bell iGo Laptop 2 years ago with no floppy drive. Purchased USB floppy from Dabs and it boots fine from drive. Have used it to boot into Power Quest Drive Image to restore Image of C Drive. If you're not sure why don't you borrow a USB floppy and try it first. If you have an old Windows 98 boot disk that should work.
