Extended RAM Failed at offset HELP!!!

  dac2000_uk 12:40 07 Aug 2003

I have recently purchased a packard bell spectria system. Its and old system but its ideal as a seocnd computer and is particularly space saving with the monitor and base unit built in together. the trouble is each time I turn the computer on, I am met with an error message and I am unable to enter the system. I also try entering setup howver it does not let me. The message reads;
"Extended RAM failed at offset; 0000 failing bits; FFBF FFFF"

I was wondering what I should do? Is there any way of solving this problem or is it easier to simply purchase more RAM?
