explorer.exe 0xc00007b warning message

  Dellman 23:18 21 Nov 2009

After booting up my Laptop and then logging in under my User Name, I get the following message window:

The application failed ot initialize properly (0xc00007b) Click on OK to terminate the application.

After clicking OK, the screen just "hangs" with a black screen and nothing seems to happen. I can get back to the Users login screen (ctrl/alt/del), but the the same happens for any of the Users on this family laptop.

What does this mean and how can I resolve this? I have recently switched antitvirus/firewall from McAfee to Comodo.

can you start in safe mode and then run you anti virus or antispyware programs?were you unprotected at all when you changed security?

when loading comodo....will have been "unprotected"

How do I start in Safe......do I ned to hit F2 when I boot up?

  User-1229748 23:58 21 Nov 2009

normally to start in safe mode you press f8 at start up but it may be f2 depending on your pc

got to safe mode

but same error message appears after i log in under User Name. Just have a screen that hangs now with "safe" mode" appearing in all 4 corners of screen.

Any ideas on how to access the antivirus?

i would wait to see if anyone with more knowledge than myself can tell you how or if you can get to your anti's.otherwise you can download dr web cure it to a usb stick and run it from there.you can also run clamwin from a usb stick aswel

when you went to enter safe mode did you notice "last known good configuration".if so try that

  Dellman 00:49 22 Nov 2009

also did you block anything with comodo before this happened?i remember a few months back people were getting locked out of their pc's by blocking explorer.exe from running.
