Can Excel Reader be installed in XP Home?
I have downloaded the reader from Microsoft and installed OK.
Have tried to open Excel files but just get the response "Microsoft Excel cannot open this type of file"- the files are PAF files in Excel.
To open I have tried double clicking the file and r/clicking then open but no good.
Any ideas?

Ranch.

My question is quite clear - can microsoft Excel Reader be downloaded to XP Home and be used to open Excel files or can it only operate correctly when downloaded to XP Office?

Microsoft Excel Reader be downloaded to XP Home and be used to open Excel files. You do not need to have Office installed.

The point is that the file that you are trying to open with Excel is not an Excel file, so it won't open.
