Excel Forumla

  recap 15:38 23 Mar 2005

I am working on a spreadsheet that has a mix of alpha and numeric data in some columns and just alpha carachters in another. Within each column there are sub-headings that seperate certain information. I can do a filter for each sub-heading but cannot work out a forumla that would give me the data for the whole column.

The alpha/numeric data is an address line. The alpha data is the type of premise, say C for Church, W for Warehouse etc.

Is there a formula that will give me the total of just the data for each column without including the sub-headings?

Data/Subtotals and follow the wizard. It should give you a grand total at the bottom.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up using VoG™s suggestion.
