I would like to use the countif funcion to count how many times a product appears in a column by month. For example, I have two columns - Date & Product. The dates span over one year and I would like to know how many times a product appears each month.

Hope you can help.

Thanks, Mary

Assuming dates in column A and product names in column B:

To count the number of product X sold in September (Month 9)

=SUMPRODUCT((MONTH(A1:A10)=9)*(B1:B10="X"))

Hi VoG,

Thanks so much for solving this for me. You have an amazing knowledge of the MS Software.

Mary
