Errors trying to boot from bootdisk

  Almighty 20:55 03 Feb 2004

I have tried to install windows 95 on an old laptop of mine however i receive errors.
Driver Version: V340
Device Name: BANANA
No drives found, aborting installation

I have read that the config.sys is to blame. The following is what is in config.sys:

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off

DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana

rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 1f0,14
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 170,15
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 170,10
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 1e8,12
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 1e8,11
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 168,10
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:banana /P: 168,9

My partition table is empty.

Ive no idea where these 'banana' references came from. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Where did you get the Laptop ?

  Almighty 21:50 03 Feb 2004

well the thing is its an old work laptop which ran windows 98.
Its got two seperate bays one for the floppy disk one for the cdrom. This is probably why it doesnt recognise the cdrom drive. Is there anyway around this?

The word Banana is a bit ominous !

I know of at least one laptop which has a very close connection to Bananas (I should know as I sold it to a friend in Tunbridge wells about a year ago! Does the name B. Gibson mean anything to you ?)

Can you try external drives ?

Banana is quite often used as the default name for a volume.
