Errors on hd

I ran a free disk utility DiskCheck which says there's 18 errors on 'c' hd. I ran error check (w2k) and then ran DC again - still got 18 errors. It's a Maxtor. Is there a utility to fix?

That doesn't necessarily mean the drive is useless, but it is a sign that there may be a problem that signals the beginning of the end for the drive. It all depends on what the errors are.

Did you get any more detailed information?

Windows should Mark out any bad blocks. If you run Disc Checker. Right Click C:\tools\ disc check tick box for auto fix errors. It should not then try to write the bad blocks. But it's as well to run SFC /SCANNOW with the XP CD in to restore any corrupt damaged files that may have been on these sectors of the drive

Thanks for replies. I ran a dos PowerMax maxtor tool and it passed all tests.

Can't understand DiskCheck's report results though.
