this issue has probably bin reported many times before
"usb device not recognised " esp with ex hard drive
ports ok work with printer and flash drives
tried all the "known" remedies inc removing drivers/updating drivers etc
nothing works
is there a proper fix for this issue which is rife judging by the millions of
views youtube is getting to try and fix the problem
my o/s is win7
Are you saying that the error message is popping up but there isn't a problem with the usb drives?
Have you tried - Device Manager - Expand serial bus controllers - right click on each of the usb controllers - properties - advanced - put a check mark in "don't tell me about usb errors" - ok
If you have a problem then you should still hear the connect/disconnect sound until you find out what it is.
If that isn't the problem have you tried the Windows USB troubleshooter?

thanks for the reply:
the main problem is it is not consistent.. in 1 in 20 plug ins ( into the usb port )
it might say " your device can run faster in a usb 2 port etc " then eventually auto find the hd...sometimes it seems to be there with the safely remove icon appearing ..but no signs of it anywhere on the computer inc disc manager..but the " cannot recognise usb device " is the main error message
the troubleshooter says it cant find any problems
+it works on a sx3 machine
