  podlod 09:07 13 Dec 2011

Hi, i tried to download Google Chrome to give it a try, but before completion of download I received a message stating as follows> error 1327 invalid drive Error End< software and they found 280 errors with my PC then wanted 25 dollars to rid my computer of these errors, but if it can be repaired without paying I would obviously like to try that first. I have Windows XP home edition. Please explain in layman's terms if poss, thanks.

Maybe download Malwarebytes and give it a run to see if your machine is infected.

Maybe copy and paste the web address that you used to download Chrome on here so that we can see if it was a good site or not.

And the name of the company that wants paid for sorting it.

Hi, I tried to download Chrome from the actual Google site, and the error is on F drive which is my DVD drive?

Why on earth did you not download Chrome from Google's own site? Chrome. You have now become infected and it would help if you could name the the software that is telling you that you have all these errors. I am assuming that a window is popping up with this rubbish on it.The name of this rubbish will be there, please post it.

That is rogue scamware. You don't have any errors they are just trying to scam money from you.

As Chronus says, tell us the name of the scamware so more precise help can be given to get rid of it.

You clicked on the link at the top of the page

Just ignore any thing it says.

You should have read the thread with the advice to repair your problem

*Hit Start, Run and type Regedit Find the following HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\Windows| CurrentVersion\ Explorer\User Shell Folders In the right pane - see if these is any entries which has an F or any other alphabelts not C (your OP folder) modify data to C:*

It does sound as if Chrome has tried to load to your F drive instead of C drive F not being writeable will have caused the error message.

Before you attempt to alter the registry be sure to Back up the registry b doing File - Export - give the registry backup a name and remember where you saved the backup to.
