Error message

  Doberman 13:49 24 Feb 2007

The following message continually ( 1/2 times aweek) appears on my computer:- the message box is headed Windows Defender..."Application failed to initialize.Ox800106ba. A problem caused Windows Defender to stop. To start service restart your computer or search help and support on how to start a service manually."
As far as I know I never use Windows Defender, how can I stop the message popping up?

You could see if it's a start up program and disable it. To disable a start up program click here

As well as being a genuine Windows program, Defender is also a trojan/virus type thingy. I would run all your anti-everything programs and/or try a System Restore back a while before this nasty appeared.

Thank you. installed system is windows98 sc ed
and do not have defender installed

  Technotiger 14:03 24 Feb 2007

I repeat, I do think you need to check for 'nasties'.
