Error: Loader couldn't initialize service...?

Hi there, I get this message whenever I boot up my XP Pro computer. I have no idea what it means, only that when I hit ctrl, alt, delete it shows me that it is a service called 'antivirus.exe' which can be terminated. I managed to find the the file 'antivirus.exe' and deleted it but I still get the message. I run AVG, Spybot, Ad aware and has tried cleaning the registry but to no avail.

Can anyone help me get rid o fthis annoying and perhaps harmful message?

Thanks, VoG but doesnt that include ordering RegRun?

sorr, i meant 'involve' not 'include'.

Manual removal:

Navigate to the keys:

and delete the value: AntiVirus Update = antivirus.exe

Im sorry, excuse my ignorance but what steps do I take to remove it? Do i run regedit? what do I look in then? I dont know what HKLM or HKCU are.

Thanks a lot.

In that case, run a².

ah, sorted, thanks very much indeed VoG. I ran a2 as you suggested and it found the virus. Should I use instead of one of my other programs or use them all in conjunctions with each other?

I think it pays to have several of these programs. They each find/remove things that the others miss or cannot remove.
