work has a newly installed machine. it's connected to a network and all have access to a database. from this database each pc should be able to print labels/invoices/merge letters/etc all via word. the new pc accesses the database ok but brings up the above error message. does anyone know how/where to change the user rights in xp pro to allow it to do this. we paid £100's last time to get an engineer in to do it.
Have a look at "control panel, administrative tools, local security policy", You may find the settings you need to change there. If not, could be under one of the other headings available under "administrative tools".
